Who- Joseph Goebbles, Minister or Propaganda, and one of Adolf Hitler's top deputies.

What- Books were being censored

Why- Because that was what Hitler wanted to be in control and only wanted the public to see, hear, and do what he wanted.Since the media was censored, Nazis assured themselves that Germany would be in their full control.

How- The books were being burned in mass numbers. The Nazi hierarchy was only letting the public do what they deemed acceptable.

How it was enforced- In a number of ways:
  1. the secret police ensured that the rules were kept.
  2. anyone who wanted to go out of the desired party faced serious consequences.
  3. people, in general, were supposed to report anything unacceptable to their local party chief.

Public Reaction- The public couldn't exactly react to the censorship because death was the punishment for anyone under Nazi Germany's rule that disobeyed the law. Therefore, the public reaction was run if you don't like it, go with the flow, or be beheaded, hanged, or shot.

Punishment for Going Around Censorship- It ranged from banning of presentation and publishing of works to deportation, imprisonment, or even execution in a concentration camp. People were punished by being killed. Some ways they were killed included: beheading, firing squad, hanging, gassing, etc.

Example 1: Let's say you decided to stash a horde of books in your upstairs closet, and someone, who just so happens to be your neighbor, sees you with a book and questions you. You hastily decide to hide the book and denie you were reading a book. Your neighbor turns you in to the authorities. First, your books will be burned. Second, you will be imprisoned, for the time being. Then, more than likely, you will be executed. An example is the firing squad.

Example 2: You are walking down the street and somehow stumble upon an unlawful book. You are spotted and arrested by the local Gestapo. A way wrongdoers and anti-Nazis that disobeyed the laws of censorship or any other law based on Nazi rule were punished by use of the guillotine. This, in brief, is a giant blade suspended over your neck. While you are forced to slouch over, they ever so kindly drop the razor sharp blade on your neck, thus beheading you, thus you are dead. The Nazis decapitated around forty thousand criminals during their tyrannical reign.

Example 3: The Gestapo have a tip that you are hiding unlawful books in your apartment. When they arrive with their machine guns and trained, German shepherd dogs, you are escorted to a detainment cell where you will wait for your turn at the execution playground. Hanging was another method used on criminals like you. You are dropped and suddenly jerked motionless by your rope collar attached to a wooden beam above your head. This simple process breaks the your neck and can be called an almost instant kill.
